About Our Department

Introduction

Arunachal Pradesh Fire & Emergency Services came into existence in the year 1976 after establishment of the first Fire Station at Naharlagun, with the sole motto "WE SERVE TO SAVE".

The Fire Station was initially manned by Civil Police personnel on deputation. Later, fresh personnel were inducted into the Fire & Emergency Services department through direct recruitment.

Evolution

Initially the Department was known as Fire Service Force. To maintain uniformity and respond to all emergency calls, the Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi changed the nomenclature.

In 2012, it was renamed to Fire & Emergency Services, which was implemented across the entire country for uniformity.
